Basic Employees' Tax & Benefits
Online Workshop
Understanding employees’ tax remains one of the most common challenges for employees, payroll practitioners, HR professionals and managers alike. Many individuals see tax deductions on their payslips each month without fully understanding the principles and calculations that underpin them. This often results in confusion, payroll queries, and the perpetuation of common tax myths and misconceptions.
This foundational Employees’ Tax Fundamentals Workshop has been designed to provide participants with a practical understanding of the core principles governing employees’ tax in South Africa. The practical course focuses on building a strong knowledge base by explaining the fundamental concepts that drive payroll tax calculations, rather than simply teaching participants how to perform calculations mechanically.
Through a structured learning approach and practical examples, participants will gain insight into how tax tables operate, the role of tax rebates and thresholds, the calculation of PAYE on employment income, the treatment of multiple income sources, and the tax implications of common employee benefits such as medical aid. The course assumes no prior tax knowledge and is suitable for individuals seeking to develop a solid understanding of employees’ tax and the factors that influence monthly payroll deductions.
