On 25 February 2026, the Minister of Finance announced an increase in the VAT registration thresholds, both compulsory and voluntary to R2,3million and R120 000 respectively. This announcement and the Draft Bill which contains the proposed changes to the Value-Added Tax Act No.89 of 1991 (the Act), requires very careful consideration by business owners and taxation and accounting professionals.
