Trust Focus: Interactive Workshop on
Section 7C and Related Complexities

We will begin with a refresher of the core principles. Thereafter, this hands-on workshop interrogates the legislation and focuses on practical application, using detailed case studies which delegates will work through, followed by guided discussion, to unpack how the section 7C donations tax, the attribution rules and, where applicable, section 31 operate and interact in real-world situations.
Key Learning Outcomes
Our interactive discussion and detailed case studies will cover:
- When section 7C applies
- The exclusions from section 7C
- Detailed donations tax calculations
- The donations tax return: IT144 and payment
- The section 7(5) and section 7(8) attribution rules for income earned in a trust and their relationship with section 25B
- Other complexities, including the issue of preference shares vs provision of loans
This is not a theoretical lecture. It is a working session designed for practitioners, who will actively engage with realistic examples and leave with practical insights that can be applied immediately in your practice.
